b. 20 April 1951, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Starting on the ukulele at the age of six, it was always DuChaine's intention to be a musician. The British Invasion sparked his interest in the guitar and Eric Clapton's versions of Robert Johnson songs drew him to the blues. As a teenager, he played in a number of groups, even playing bass in a psychedelic band, while he studied slide technique at home. In 1972, he played bass in Aces, Straights and Shuffles with Kim Wilson and the pair also worked as a duo. Wilson moved to Texas in 1974 and DuChaine followed soon after, with a band called Crossroads. In 1989, while living and playing in Alabama, he met Johnny Shines and the pair formed a fruitful working relationship. DuChaine played on several tracks on Back To The Country, one of Shines' last sessions. The following year he set up his own label, which bears all the hallmarks of a cottage industry. Take A Little Ride With Me gives credit to his battered National steel guitar, Leadbessie, and features a song extolling his 1956 Cadillac, Marilyn, in which he lived and toured during the 80s.
