Released as part of Rhino's 1995 series of Robyn Hitchcock reissues, You & Oblivion is the second collection of Hitchcock rarities, featuring demos, live tracks, and studio outtakes. Unfortunately, much of the material is second rate, and some of the songs sound unfinished. Accentuating the frustratingly inconsistent musical quality of the record is the lack of liner notes and non-chronological sequencing, which makes the record confusing for casual listeners and exasperating for hardcore fans. There are a handful of intriguing performances among the 22 tracks, yet most of You & Oblivion is a chore to listen to.
