Rosetta Stone Software SuiteIt stands out against the background of many competitors with a rich history, a large number of supported languages and the original organization of the educational process. The idea of the program appeared back in the 1980s, when its creator Allen Stoltzfus practiced language training courses using the immersion method - when students are not forced to cram the alphabet, read rules and then gradually memorize words, but are immediately thrown into the thick of events, surrounding typical everyday situations. The ability to fully implement such courses on a computer appeared in the early 1990s. Since then, Herr Stoltzfus and his associates have become rich in order, and their brainchild has become so famous that the US Department of Defense used Rosetta Stone to train American soldiers sent to the Middle East. Whether this fact is a plus or minus of the program is up to you to decide.
The Rosetta Stone complex consists of several important elements:
the actual shell into which language modules are loaded
language learning modules including pictures, sounds and speech recognizers
additional audio materials to be listened to in the player for further education
Each language consists of a number of levels. Five such levels have been released in popular languages, while in the rest three so far. Each level, distributed as a separate disk, consists of 4 thematic parts. Each part consists of 4 lessons and ends with a situational exam.
The training course of any language starts the same way - you will be asked to learn keywords such as "man", "woman", "boy", "girl". And you will learn most of the other words from the context. For example, they will show you a man for food and a woman with a glass of water and write "The man is eating", "The woman is drinking". Then you have to make out a dozen more combinations of old and new words - so, according to the authors, the material is consolidated. In any case, intuition and visual perception make up about 80% in the Rosetta Stone technique.
All tasks in Rosetta Stone can be divided into several groups:
Finding the right picture for the phrase. Here you need to select the desired photo with the mouse.
Choosing the right offer for the picture. Here you will be shown several options, of which you need to click on the right one. The green buttons allow you to listen again to how each replica sounds.
Jobs for pronunciation. You will be asked to repeat each of the list of words, and they will give you only two attempts.
Grammar assignments. Here you need to insert the right word in the correct form
The exam is held at the end of each topic in the form of a slideshow that illustrates some life situation. All your answers need to be said out loud, and you are not shown any text that needs to be said - you must figure out for yourself what phrase is appropriate to say at the moment. Unlike ordinary lessons, it is impossible to influence the order of the exam - it takes place strictly from the beginning to the end, and it is impossible to return to any of its tasks.
In addition to the software shell, English (British) Level 1,2,3,4,5 language packs, Audio Companion CDs, Rosetta Stone crack and detailed Russian instructions with screenshots of installing the program and language courses are also included.
