A photo
Take a look at your favorite pictures and memories in a redesigned interface. Photos are organized by day, month, and year.
Animations and transitions keep your position on the timeline, and you can switch views while staying in the same shot.
Live Photos and videos play automatically as you scroll.
Using machine learning technology, the Photos app can help you find people and events in your photos, such as birthdays, anniversaries, or travel. The app's algorithm will also hide duplicate and redundant images.
Now you can watch flashback videos on your Mac and choose the duration, mood and title for them. And if you use iCloud Photos, your changes sync across all your devices.
Notes
In the new gallery mode, notes are displayed in the form of thumbnails with images - so it will be even easier for you to find the desired post.
All notes in folders and subfolders can be edited with other users. Send out invitations and your collaborators can insert notes, add attachments, and create subfolders.
The search function now recognizes objects and places in pictures added to notes, and also finds words in documents scanned with the built-in scanner. When you enter a search query, you immediately see suggestions and you can open the desired note with one touch.
Drag and drop items to arrange them in the desired order, or use keyboard shortcuts. Move the marked items to the end of the list so that they do not distract attention. If you have completed the list and want to use it again, uncheck everything with one click - and you can start over.
Reminders
The Reminders app has a new interface. Add a date, time, place, checkbox, or even useful information attachment to the reminder using the new edit buttons. You don't have to open another window to do this.
Smart Smart Lists automatically sort upcoming reminders into categories: Today, Flagged, and Scheduled. And in the "All" category, you will see a complete list of reminders.
You can customize the style of personal or public iCloud lists - there are 12 colors and 60 characters to choose from.
Tag someone in a reminder and it will appear on the screen the next time you chat with that person in Messages.
Safari
The new start page interface combines favorites, frequently visited pages and Siri suggestions. Here, you'll see pages from your browsing history, list of recently visited sites, bookmarks, reading list, iCloud tabs, and links sent in Messages.
If you entered a weak password when you signed in, Safari will warn you and suggest a stronger one.
By pressing the volume button of the tab, you can quickly switch to the "Picture in picture" mode.
If you start typing the address of an already open website, Safari will redirect you to the open tab.
mail
If you specify an unwanted sender, Mail will block all his emails and move them to the trash. This feature works the same way as in Messages: just click on the sender's name in the subject line.
You can now unsubscribe from unsolicited mailings by clicking on the link in the email header. Click Unsubscribe to request that your email address be removed from the mailing list.
This feature allows you to turn off message notifications in an overly busy conversation.
In the Mail viewer, letters are displayed as a list. The selected letter can be viewed on the right or below.
Sidecar
Use iPad as a second monitor. Keep the reference window open on one display while working on the other. Or check out what your presentation looks like when viewed in iPad view when you edit it on a Mac.
Screen time
Screen Time reports how much time you've spent on your Mac, which apps you've been using the longest, and how many notifications you've received.
Through iCloud, Screen Time aggregates usage data from iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and syncs your idle mode settings and app limits. Screen Time will allow you to set the Rest mode so that you (or your child) can only use pre-approved apps.
App Limits lets you limit the amount of time you use apps and websites. You can set limits for the entire screen time, as well as for individual categories or specific applications. Communication Restriction allows you to choose with whom children can communicate during the day. And make sure that they stay in touch with you even after turning on the "At rest" mode.
Locator
Find iPhone and Find Friends have been combined into a single application. A community search system helps you find your device even if it's not connected to Wi-Fi. If you've marked your device as missing and there is another Apple gadget next to it, it can recognize your smartphone's Bluetooth signal and report its location.
Apple Watch confirmation
If you need to enter your Mac password - for example, to see all passwords in Safari preferences - you can quickly verify your identity by double-tapping the side button on your Apple Watch.
Apple ID
Now all the important information from your Apple ID account is available right in Mac System Preferences.
A new overview panel displays your name, contact information, password, security information, billing and shipping information, and mailing list settings.
In this section, you can also see at a glance all devices on which you are logged into your account. Check the last backup date, Find My status, and other information for each device.
Home application
Your smart home control center - like Apple TV - can record video to iCloud when HomeKit-enabled cameras detect movement of a person, animal, or car. You can be notified of these videos and view them in the Home app on your Mac.
Shared folders in iCloud Drive
Now you can provide access to folders using a private link. By clicking on this link, any user can view the folder in iCloud Drive, add new files to it and get acquainted with the current versions.
Recovery from a snapshot
If you have installed an update that is incompatible with your third-party software, you can restore your computer from the snapshot that was created immediately before installation. MacOS and all your apps will work exactly as they did before the update.
