Vintage Folk Rock Kit is a terrific set for folk rock or indie rock of the 60s / 70s. We used the engineering skills of legendary engineer / producer Phil Brown (Laura Marling / John Martin / Rolling Stones), whose in-depth knowledge of recording groups during these years helped shape the sound of the set.
The kit used was the beautiful old set of Ludwig Hollywood in 1966 and was created by the legendary drummer Martin Oldham. To guide us about the sound of the kit, we used drummer folk specialist Martin Barker (Rufus Wainwright, Richard Hawley, Catherine Williams), who tried the kit using chopsticks, hot keys and brushes, which effectively give you three sets - nice!
