This book presents a case in MBD in which people fell into inappropriate ways of thinking leading to unfortunate failure, and explains the problem. The contents of this book will promote MBD and set you on the right path.
MBD stands for Model-Based Development or Model-Based Design. While Model-Based Design mainly focuses on design, especially control design, Model-Based Development covers all aspects of development, including verification, implementation, and, recently, simulation using CAE, in addition to design. In Japan, the term "MBD" is mainly used to refer to Model-Based Development, while in Europe and the United States, it is often referred to as Model-Based Design.
I participated in JMAAB (Japan MBD Automotive Advisory Board) activities from 2013 to 2022. I summarized the issues of Model-Based Development that I experienced from those activities. If I had not attended JMAAB, I would still be doing the wrong Model-Based Development I described in this document without realizing it. I can only express my gratitude to JMAAB and the incredible engineers I met there for helping me grow. This book will help engineers and students who are starting MBD and have already started but are struggling.
