Food is an element of life which brings people together.
Started in Tasmania, the premium food state of Australia in July 2014, Harvest Kitchen provides premium cooking and dining experiences which showcase the freshest regional produce in simple and healthy combinations. After our first year, I was continually asked if I was going to collect our recipes together for everyone to use.
And so the writing began.
Our philosophy focuses on building awareness about the food we prepare and eat - know the who, what, where of the ingredients - and, importantly, know the value of that purchase to your local economy. To do this, Harvest Kitchen has built relationships with producers in our local region, who engage in the best possible practices in every way, and are personally connected with the produce they sell. Our mission is to build enjoyment and knowledge in preparing accessible and tasty dishes using produce you can source at your local farmer's market or local grocery supplier.
This 'Entertaining' recipe book and its stories reflect that mission. Many of the dishes are family favourites and can be easily modified to suit individual tastes, with ingredients being changed depending on what is available in your area. Meals are easy to prepare, enabling you to repeat the dishes again and again with confidence.
Food has always been an essential element of gathering people together whether it is a quiet family dinner or a full on celebration time with family and friends. I have used many personal influences including travel in France, Italy and the UK, to create dishes which are accessible to busy people who want to create a meal for everyone to gather around and enjoy. Over the years, many precious memories have been built whilst sharing simple or elaborate food!
Many of the dishes are Gluten Free or have suggestions for a simple ingredient swap to make them Gluten Free. Many are also perfect for people on Low Carb, High fat diets and also anybody who loves, like myself, to eat low-processed foods.
So enjoy these recipes, modify them to suit the local produce you have available wherever you live, and use the book with love, enjoyment and fun.
