Kirill Zvegintsov is a pianist and conductor. He was born in Ukraine and lives in Basel, Switzerland. He performs as soloist and as chamber musician in Switzerland and abroad. His repertoire reflects his passion for musical diversity. Musical compositions of the 20th and 21st centuries hold a significant place in his repertoire. Kirill Zvegintsov has played and conducted several premieres by modern composers, including Beat Furrer, Jacques Lenot, Jannik Giger, Charlotte Torres and Simone Movio. His repertoire also includes such works as Bach's "Well-tempered clavier", Messiaen's "Vingt Regards sur l`Enfant-Jésus" and Beethoven's "Diabelli-Variations".
Kirill Zvegintsov has won numerous prizes and awards, among them the Prix Mention Spéciale - Samson François in the Orléans Piano Competition in 2018, the 2nd place honors in the CCC Toronto Piano Competition in 2011, and the 1st place honors in the Crans-Montana international Piano Competition "Les virtuoses du futur" in 2007. He was also a finalist in the Honens International Piano Competition in Calgary, Canada in 2009.
He has made several audio recordings, among them a live-performance CD of 24 Preludes and Fugues by Dmitri Shostakovich produced under the Müller und Schade label. Another album, "Eaux-Fortes", featuring compositions by Couperin, Debussy, George Hugon and Jacques Lenot, is soon to appear under the FY-Solstice label.
As a devout chamber musician, Kirill Zvegintsov has collaborated with such artists as Paolo Bonamini, Lisa Rieder, Karolina Ohman, Malwina Sosnowski, Anton Martynov and Patricia Kopatchinskaja.
He was invited to take part in the Davos Festival, the Murten Classics, Musikfestival Bern, the reMusik Festival in Saint Petersburg, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Les Sommets du Classique in Crans-Montana, Tage für Neue Musik Zurich and the Festival Alfredo Piatti in Bergamo. Besides Ukraine and Switzerland, he performs in Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Poland, Argentina, and Brazil.
After having completed musical studies in his home country, Ukraine, Kirill Zvegintsov continued his artistic development in Switzerland as a Master Performance and Master Specialized student at the Bern School of Arts (HKB) under the guidance of Prof. Tomasz Herbut. During two years at the Basel Academy of Music, he studied contemporary music with Prof. Jürg Henneberger, Mike Svoboda and Markus Weiss. He received further musical impulses during masterclasses with Konstantin Lifshitz, Piotr Andrszewsky, Robert Levin and Roger Muraro. He worked as an assistant in the piano class of Konstantin Lipsitz at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In 2018, he began a postgraduate course in orchestral conducting at the Bern School of Arts with Prof. Florian Ziemen.
