Pyrography can best be described as a craft, skill or technique which involves the use of a heated metal pen-like tool that is used to burn wood. That is while in some places it is still called wood burning till this day. 
But be that as it may, outside wood, pyrographic craft is still carried out in leather works, some go as far as engraving in stones and gourds, depending on choice of interest. 
The aim of this technique of wood burning is that after you must have used the pen-like tool on the wood, it leaves behind something like an engraved decorative pattern which is usually very attractive, fanciful and adorable.
