The town of Bright Falls, nestled among the mountains and forests of the Pacific Northwest, is rocked by a series of ritual murders. To investigate these terrible crimes, Saga Anderson arrives in the city, an experienced FBI agent with many cases under her belt that were considered unsolved. However, when Anderson finds pages from a horror novel that begins to come to life before her eyes, her case quickly turns into a living nightmare. Alan Wake, a writer trapped in a nightmare beyond our world, writes a dark novel in an attempt to change the reality around him and escape from the dungeon. Fleeing the horror of the darkness that haunts him, Wake tries to maintain his sanity and defeat the devil on his field. Anderson and Wake are two heroes walking different paths in two separate realities, but deep down they are connected by something they themselves cannot understand: their actions and deeds reflect each other... influencing the worlds around them. Drawing on the power of a horror novel, otherworldly forces of darkness enter Bright Falls, poisoning the souls of local residents and threatening the loved ones of Wake and Anderson. Light is the weapon and refuge of those in the fight against darkness. Can Alan and Saga break out of the horror of monsters and victims and become the heroes they are meant to be?
