Since the dawn of time fire has had the power to illuminate the darkness
and stir the soul, sort of an untamed beast corralled into an open fireplace
or perched on to a crude torch. Its transformation illuminated cities in
outdoor lanterns and showed off its charm in indoor chandlers. The light of
the flame has come into its own by forging an alliance of harmony and beauty
into what has become the candle.

From the caves of antiquity to our humble abode the candle has guided us
through emergencies, inspired us on holidays and has brought merriment to
our celebrations. For me there is something magical about a flickering
candle in the darkness that transports you back in time. This was most
evident when I was invited to a friend's wedding celebration that took
place in a small village, nestled in the mountains of Peru. Darkness set
in as flickering candles created a world of enchantment, a mystical moment
that I will never forget.

Since that time I have collected unique and stunning candles from all around
the world. I have also learned from the artisans of the flame, the master
candle makers who not only taught me how to make candles, but to infuse them
with uniqueness and creativity that ultimately became my most treasured gift
to myself and to the ones I shared them with.
