NCEA Physics Scholarship. This is a course that will get you to a point where you can answer physics schol questions.
What you'll learn
Gain self belief that they can attempt the scholarship physics exam
Be able to answer scholarship level questions themselves
Learn the hidden skills needed for scholarship physics
Be able to independently study towards scholarship physics
Requirements
Be currently completing the NCEA Level 3 Physics course (or equivalent) in NZ
Finished L2 NCEA Physics
Description
This course is aimed at New Zealand Level 3 Physics students, and intends to get them started studying for scholarship physics. It has 10 lessons, and each lesson covers a new idea, provides examples and scaffolding and then sets the students a task to practice themselves. Over the first few lessons, students are scaffolded from answering NCEA level physics questions, all the way to answering scholarship level questions. By the end of the course, students will have all the knowledge to finish preparing for this scholarship exam independently. Whilst this is aimed at students, teachers who are looking for inspiration may want to use the course materials to make their own 1 term unit (10 weekly lessons), to teach their own scholarship students. However, it need not be taught over 1 term; an independent student, might get through all the lessons on their own in a few days. The 10 lessons are:IntroductionScholarship style questionsThe curriculumAnswering your first scholarship questionDimensional AnalysisDealing with new physics conceptsMath skillsCoordinate systems and componentsExplanation QuestionsSummaryThis material is the same material that I have used for the past 10 years with my scholarship students, of which I have taught dozens of students that have been successful. If you find the course helpful on your own journey to scholarship success, then please let me know! (Leave a comment on my kiwiphysics channel on youtube). For those students under the age of 18, a parent or guardian will need to open your account and pay the course fee. Those under 18 may use the services only if a parent or guardian opens their account, handles any enrollments, and manages their account usage.
