Description
In this course i will share knowledge of RPA implementations and Project deployment gained at global financial services organisations and local government.
If you are considering implementing RPA (robotic process automation) in your organisation or have been tasked with automating an existing process this course is for you.
RPA is revolutionizing the service industry and large-scale organisations and government departments are automating traditional office tasks to gain competitive advantage or reduce cost base, reduce complaints, reduce mistakes and deliver products and services on time.
If you are an existing developer, business analyst, project manager or solutions architect considering transferring from one IT specialism to RPA this course is your foundation and will show you what to expect.
If you aim is to know if RPA is going to be useful for your organisation, this course will show you the capabilities, what tasks have been automated, how it links with other systems, how you plan the work and how you can overcome any potential barriers.
This course is a non-technical course so you don't require any programming skills, this course will teach you advanced RPA knowledge gained whilst working in a large multi-national and for a local government organization.
The course will be completed with a complete process walkthrough to demonstrate what sort of process RPA can automate.
This course is an overview of what rpa is and aimed at individuals who are responsible for implementing RPA in their organisation or have been tasked to determine if RPA will be a suitable option for their organisation or specific process.
There may also be others who just want a better understanding of what RPA is and this therefore is the course for you as we delve into the details, benefits and capabilities without getting bogged down with the technical programming skills in this course.
This course is great for a number of skilled roles, such as Business Analysts, Project Managers, Developers, and Solutions Architects as although it doesn't teach you the RPA specifics to your role - more of that coming in future courses, but it gives you a great background of RPA so the transition to RPA will be much smoother, should you wish to make it.
We are building another course coming soon which will be a development course on how to built a complete automated solution and a complete solution design example, but for this course you wont need to know any technical coding or how to program RPA and we wont be teaching you the coding, this is all about what can RPA do (and not do) so you have a clear understanding of where it could be of use for you and your organisation specifically.
So lets have a look in a little more detail what we are covering in this course.
What is RPA?
The course starts with a very brief overview of what RPA, and this will be quite brief as the details will follow in the following lectures.
RPA Benefits
We then move onto the RPA benefits so you can establish what may be the benefits for your or any other specific organisation, this will help you make the decision as to whether there is benefit in proceeding.
RPA Capabilities
We then go into real detail on RPAs capabilities so you can see what it has been capable of. We look at what software packages it is capable of interacting with, and what tasks a human is capable of can it replicate.
What is RPA not
It is important to consider some scenarios where RPA might not be the best fit for your organisation to ensure you don't get too far down the line attempting to implement RPA on processes which are in-appropriate.
Where is RPA Suitable?
In this module we will look at the situations RPA is a suitable solution to use. There will be many of these situations which you can apply to your organisation.
What Decisions can RPA make?
One of the critical factors of RPA is its inability to make decisions which involve judgement and this can be presented as a barrier to automation but further investigation is required in this area, because there may be the possibility to take a critical view of what these decisions actually include and how they are made, because there is the possibility of breaking processes down to enable the software to make the right decisions if we give it the required logical to make the choice.
Using RPA to prioritise and organise work?
In this module we look at what RPA is capable of prioritising and organising, and how it interacts with current systems used to manage workloads. Migrating work from human to automation doesn't take away the need to manage workloads through the system to ensure that all work is completed on time, so the automation software needs a way of managing work, and there will always be situations where some work is more urgent than others, - the automation software has to have a way of handling differing priorities.
RPA Project Life Cycle
In this module, we will look at the project life cycle, the stages a typical automation project goes through, and the roles involved at each stage. This will give you the knowledge of what will need to be done if you are to automate a process to RPA and some of the roles involved to make this happen.
Handling System Errors and Problems
In this section we look at the common systems issues and problems that the human normally encounters and look at rpa's ability to handling these scenarios. Many of these typical problems will be presented as automation barriers so it is important for you to be able to identify them and plan to overcome them. We will demonstrate what to look for and how to work round these scenarios. We will also cover how the software is built to handle errors.
Basic Process Walkthrough Example
We can now move onto looking at a very basic process which is automated, to identify the typical early stage processes which can be automated. We will look at the process as it is worked by the current operators, how it can be mapped for automation and how the automation software will automate this process.
More Complex Process Walkthrough Example
In this module we will now look at a more typical complex process which is automated, a process which interacts with more than one system, which has to use some logic to direct the process, and which has to carry out a number of different actions.
Example of How the Developer builds the automation.
Finally, we will look at how the developer builds the automation, looking at the steps followed to automate a process, this won't go into detail of the code written, but will look at how the developer uses the software and some of its tools to build a fully automated process. This will give you a strong understanding of how the developer is putting together an automated solution.
