MM monster / cat shapeshifter romance

All my life, I've been treated like a freak, a beast. Living among people when you look like me is practically impossible. And with my potent pheromones, it's even worse. To them, I'm like a dangerous animal, but also something exciting. The only thing I'm good for now is being a test subject in some controversial scientific program related to fertility.
In my empty, cruel life, there isn't even a spark of hope, let alone any chance at love.     Who would ever love a monster?
Until one day, a random participant in the program notices what's being done to me and speaks out. That single act of humanity and compassion changes something inside me. I want to meet him, to touch him, to hear him speak, but he doesn't belong to me. My only visitor is a mysterious cat who somehow sneaks through the ventilation system.
