Wolf Shifter Dax Rowan doesn't believe in fated mates.
The universe disagrees violently.

Pack sentinel Dax has one job: protect walking ray of sunshine Violet Carmichael from whoever is trying to kill her. Falling for her is not part of the assignment.

Then Dax's wolf decides she's his fated mate. Fantastic. Dax has already promised to choose a mate for duty. Violet is scheduled to return to her pack the minute it's safe, so her overprotective father can continue dictating her every move. Unfortunately, fate doesn't seem to care.

Now Dax has to find an assassin, keep Violet alive, and resist the one woman his wolf refuses to let go. Protecting her was supposed to be the hard part.
