Claymore's fifth release is by far their most mature, consistent, and aggressive album. While previous albums combined pop, prog, and Celtic music with varying degrees of success, Giants Forever is more of a straight-ahead Celtic rock effort in the vein of Runrig and Wolfstone. It took several years with corresponding records for Claymore to refine their sound, but with results like this it was worth the wait. It remains to be seen, however, how this band will continue and respond given the passing of founding member and drummer Robert Butts in 1999.
